(Al-Baqara) 2 : 278
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَذَرُوا مَا بَقِيَ مِنَ الرِّبَا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ
Oh, you who believed! You heed Lord Allah and you give up what is remaining from usury if you are believers.
This verse and verse 5: 57 are the only two verses beginning with “Oh you who believed” and ending with “if you are believers”. Those who are involved in usury are not believers, and the believers should not have any relation with those who deal with usury. Heeding the Lord is only with the Adhikr. To understand the aim of life from Adhikr is the only means to irradicate usury, exploitation, theft, and all such mischievous practices from the society as explained in verses 2: 168-169. See explanation 2: 261, 268, and 4: 85.
